HELP!!!

Calling all bloggers, readers, writers, reviewers, and book lovers, we need your help.

As many of you know we have a 9-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter.  Well, thanks to their wonderful grandma, they both have Kindles.  The problem we are facing is this, our daughter, Abbi is in 2nd grade, but reading at a 5th grade reading level.  She has out grown all of her chapter books and is now tearing through anything she can get her hands on.

We need book recommendations - and fast!  So please get the word out there to all that have read, written, and loved middle grade books, we need some possible downloads.  Traditional or self-published is fine, we are just trying to find books that are written at a level that will keep her attention, but are age appropriate.

If you know anyone, send them our way, if you know a book, please post it in the comment field. 

Review!

Today our book is going to be featured on Novel D'Tales.  It's a great blog about using your kindle, reading, and book reviews.

After some time of using Twitter, we came to meet @HilyBee, she's a person that is always there for a RT (Repeating and spreading the word about what you tweeted, for the none Tweeters).  She's the person behind the blog and has just finished reading our book The Missing.

As most of you know, there was that moment of apprehension when she finished - will she love it or hate it?  Well the good news is, she loved it and is posting a review on her blog as her first review of the year!!!

This has to be one of the cutest pictures that was ever taken with our camera.  This is our daughter Abbi, who you've seen before, reading to one of our twin nephews, Calob.  The best part of being a family that loves reading and writing is seeing our kids take on the same love for books.

Even better, is when one of our very own is passing down the tradition with "Twas the Night Before Christmas."  She has been reading the book, a few times a day, for the past few months and probably could tell the entire story without the book at this point.  She just decided that day, that her baby cousin needed to hear it.

M. Urban Mythos

You Should Read Urban Mythos!



Earlier this week, I finished reading Urban Mythos by Jay Eckert and all I can say is that it was an amazing book.

I first "Internet" met Jay about a year ago, when we started this whole blogging thing.  Just from reading his blog and the way that he wrote his posts, I knew that I would love anything he wrote.  So, a few months ago, when I found out he was self-publishing his YA novel Urban Mythos, I was one of the first to buy it.

However, as it always does, life got in the way as well as a stack of books that I was already reading.  Instead of reading it right away, I let it just stew inside the depths of my computer and wait for me to be ready.

The other day was that day.  I picked it up and began to read.  Just like most stories that are amazing, I didn't want to put it down.  I put off blogging, some writing, and a few hours of sleep.  Believe me, it was worth it.

There were great characters, plot twists, turns, and a surprises that I am still shaking my head at.  The story, the writing, and the voice did not disappoint.  I am glad to have had the opportunity to have gotten to know Jay and read his book.  I would recommend it to anybody that loves to read, that is the only prerequisite that is needed to enjoy it.

M. Freedom

Well I finally finished reading FREEDOM by Jonathan Franzen. It was one of those books that definitely will change the way that I think for the rest of my life. His writing style, his voice, the way he creates characters is nothing short of amazing. Somehow he intertwines the lives and overlaps the stories of all of the characters in a way that you don't even notice it happening. Basically, I recommend reading the book and seeing how you feel afterwards. It may give you a different perspective of how you abuse/use your freedom.
